Sterling silver commemorative punch bowl from Tiffany & Co. The bowl's exterior is decorated with cartouches, eagles in relief, portraits of George Washington and a man who appears to be John Adams, and the seal of the Sons of the Revolution in the State of New York. It is inscribed "to the Honorable John Lee Carroll by the General Society Sons of the Revolution April 19, 1902." |
Historical context |
The Sons of the Revolution in the State of New York presented this bowl to their General President, John Lee Carroll, on April 19th, 1902. The bowl was later donated to the museum by John Lee Carroll's son, Phillip, in 1913 or 1914. |
