Depiction of Washington entering New York City on November 25, 1783. He sits on a white horse in the center of a streetscape with period buildings around him. He is surrounded by his generals with members of the public on the street and on balconies. A flag waves from the building on the right. [Noted by Marzio, THE DEMOCRATIC ART, as one of the most monumental lithographs of the nineteenth century.] General Washington and Governor lead the triumphal parade into an idealized view of ravaged New York City. |
