Medium teacup: handle; wide brim; squared base; border; landscape scene on exterior Large-bowled, thin-rimmed, blue and white Canton ware teacup displaying Asian rural scenes, such as pagodas, mountains, a house on top of a hill, trees, birds, grasses, and a lake. Around the inside rim of the teacup is a pattern defined by a solid blue band at the top struck through with blue diagonals at intervals of every one and a half inches. Below this is a band of thin diagonal lines spaced about a quarter of an inch apart bordered above and below by horizontal lines. At the bottom of the bowl on the inside is a motiff depicting a plume of water grasses over a shimmering pond surface. On one side of the outer portion of the teacup is an oval handle intersected by a curving support at the bottom. |
