On the outside fold: "Letter from Mr. Tracy/ 22 January" Inside boy of letter: "Norwich Jan.y 22nd 1814/ Gen.l Burbeck/ Dear Sir, you will remember that on of the new Gun Carriages/ I have made is by your direction for a 12 pound(?). My foreman/ informs me that Gun is at Fort Trumbull but he understands that/ was intended to be removed to Fort Griswold./ As I am about ready to send down the Carriages I wish to/ send them down on the side they are intended for./ I wish you to write me by Monday, mail as which Fort/ you want this 12 pound Carriage--if at Fort Griswold/ be pleased to remove the Gun Carriage over to that/ side so as to be ready. I shall want to greet (illeg.)/ used in changing the Guns, so that my Teams may not/ be retained in bringing back the travelling carriages./ The bill of Dan.l Johnson I enquired after in my Letter/ of yesterday is $36-56 I hope it will be found amongst/ the papers left with you. You can answer me by/ some Lower(?) on Monday morning if convenient/ respectfully your ablServ./ Elisha Tracy" |
