"Treasury Department/ Third Auditors Office/ February 8. 1840/ Sir./ The accounts of the late E. Kibby, agent in the/ Qr. M. Dept. for the 1st., 2d., 3d. + 4t. Quarters of 1838 having been audited/ and reported to the 2d. Comptroller of the Treasury for his decision thereon/ have been returned to the office, resulting in a balance of Eighteen/ hundred and twenty one Dollars and forty six cents due from him/ to the United States, and differing from his own Statements $2294.33/100/ which you will find explained upon the enclosed sheet of differences./ Respectfully, Sir/ Your Obt.
